Higher switches to European cloud solution to meet Schrems II
On July 16th, the EU Court announced a ruling in the Schrems II case. This ruling makes it illegal to use IT-based services that transfer and process personal data in the US under the Privacy Shield framework.
In light of this, Higher made the decision in autumn 2020 to migrate its entire recruitment tool to a European cloud provider. As of February 1st, 2021, there is no longer any connection to the US.
Respecting and adhering to all directives is of utmost importance to us, explains Stefan Lidén, CEO of Higher. "Given that this concerns the storage of personal data and compliance with GDPR, our board made the tough decision to move our entire solution to a European cloud provider. It was a significant and costly operation, but now it feels like the right decision. When we informed our clients about this, we received several positive responses. Whether you're a candidate using Higher to search for a job or a client of ours, you should always feel secure knowing that we comply with GDPR and act responsibly in all situations. GDPR has become such a crucial issue, and regulatory authorities have started taking clearer action recently."
